Proposed Centennial Celebration Program

The Core Committee has proposed the below program of activities:

a) A 3-day Grand Commemoration event:

1. October 3rd- 2023 – Birth Centenary Commemoration Event and Release of Commemorative Book on Prof. M. Santappa
2. October 4th 2023 – One day Symposium on Polymer Science at Madras University
3. October 5th 2023 – Dr Santappa Centenary Lecture by Dr R NAGARAJAN, University of Massachusetts Lowell, US, on the Topic of “Polymers & Sustainability: Progress Through Interdisciplinarity”, 11 a.m. at Triple Helix Auditorium, CLRI.

b) Proposal to establish Professor M. Santappa Visiting Professorship Chair at Department of Physical Chemistry, University of Madras with proper approval and satisfying all terms and conditions of existing Visiting Professorship in the University of Madras.

c) Proposal that the present Seminar Hall at the Department of Physical Chemistry to be named as Prof M. Santappa Seminar Hall including a life-sized photograph or bust of Prof M. Santappa to be placed in the Department of Physical Chemistry premises with proper approval and satisfying all terms and conditions in the University of Madras.

d) Two competitions conducted by the Society of Polymer Science (SPS)

• Essay Contest for Indian college students on the topic “Life and Work of Prof. Santappa: Impact on Science and Technology.” Notification of the Essay Competition has been circulated among college students. The winning entry will be included in the Commemorative Book on Prof Santappa.
• Drawing Competition for Indian college students on the topic “Life and Work of Prof. Santappa: Impact on Science and Technology”. Notification of the Drawing Competition has been circulated among college students. The winning entry will be included in the Commemorative Book on Prof Santappa.
